That's not just a few angry customers, the loud minority, that's almost everyone who uses them. Listen to the reviews, the horror stories on Consumer Reports, their terrible ratings everywhere. They use that "placeholder" date against you and give you a flat refund for each business day it was late, maybe $500 off a $4000 total when it took twice as long as sold to you or more, you've spent 20+ hours on the phone, and been sleeping on an air mattress for a month not knowing where your entire life is or if you'll ever see it again.ĭon't get tricked into using Pack Rat. They say they'll talk compensation when it gets delivered, but there is no talk. You'll get calls setting up a delivery only to get called back an hour later saying "oops, it's not there" or "oops, we overbooked." If you're really lucky, you'll get your stuff a month later, double the estimate, and only if you call and complain every single day, waiting 2+ hours on hold each time. It will get marked as delivered to the facility but not actually be there. You'll get a contact who's supposed to be the agent on your case, but the number they give you will never work. They are never able to tell you where your pod is or when it will be delivered. 10-14 days becomes 3 weeks, then 4, then more.

The problem is always the same, a broken axle or transmission. This is the first time you find out they don't even ship the pods themselves, they hire a 3rd party, a great excuse for why they have no control and can't do anything. Then you're told something happened with the truck, and there's been a delay.

You can never reach anyone on the phone for an update or any info without dealing with phone-system hell and multiple hour wait times no matter when you call.

Then you get charged the full amount, even though you could swear that the salesperson said you'd only pay on final delivery. Things keep going fine as they drop off your container and pick it back up on time. 10-14 days at most, at a price that seems great given the original quote. Then they give you a time frame and set up dates but promise that those are just place holder dates and that it always gets there early and when it does you'll get a call and can schedule a much earlier delivery of your stuff. Everything started well enough, they pick up the phone right away and the salesperson on the phone lulls you in with a big discount when you balk at the original $5k quote, taking it down by a thousand or so. We just had the worst experience with this company.
